The company was originally founded in 1949, but the name CPB Contractors was only launched in January 2016 following a merger of the CIMIC Group construction businesses of Leighton Contractors and Thiess Construction.

The company operates in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, India and Papua New Guinea and is involved in the construction of roads, rail, tunnels, defence, buildings and resource infrastructure.

John Holland

The company was founded in 1949 by Sir John Holland who commenced field operations for a new Australian engineering and construction company known as John Holland & Co.

In 1950, John Holland & Co won its first major civil engineering project, the construction of a water treatment and power station plant at Australian Paper Manufacturers at Fairfield, Victoria.

In April 2015, John Holland was purchased by China Communications Construction Company International Holding Limited (CCCI). CCCI is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), the largest listed company in the international infrastructure and engineering sector.

BMD Constructions

BMD started as a family business in 1979. The company was named after the company’s founders. The BMD Group operates five companies including BMD Constructions, BMD Urban, BMD Industrial, Empower Engineers & Project Managers, JMac Constructions and Urbex.
