Georgiou Group has been awarded a $25 million contract to work on Sydney Metro’s Northwest project in NSW.
As Managing Contractor, Georgiou will be responsible for the design and construction of the finishing and ancillary works package which includes road and building construction, pedestrian and cycling bridges, service relocation, demolition and landscaping.
Executive General Manager Eastern Region Gary Georgiou said the project will be the first Georgiou has delivered for Sydney Metro.
“On the east coast of Australia, Georgiou has made a concentrated effort to expand our capability in the civil market while increasing our client base,” he explained.
“This award is the culmination of months of work from our team and we look forward to delivering our first project for a new client, both on time and budget.”
Construction, which will employ 50 personnel at the peak, will commence in October 2018 with expected completion in December 2019.
In New South Wales, Georgiou is currently delivering the Northern Road Upgrade Mersey Road to Eaton Road ($120M), M1 Weakleys Drive Intersection Upgrade ($14M), New England Highway Upgrade at Bolivia Hill ($40M), Pimlico to Teven Stage 3 ($44M) and the Windsor Bridge Replacement ($60M).
The $8.3 billion Sydney Metro Northwest opens in the second quarter of 2019 and is the first fully-automated metro rail system in Australia.
