A Project Manager specialising in structures oversees and manages construction projects with a focus on structural elements. They are responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing structural projects, ensuring they are completed within budget and on time. Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans, including the project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines
  • Prepare project budgets, monitor expenses and track financial progress throughout the whole construction project lifecycle
  • Assess potential risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure all work meets industry standards and project requirements
  • Work closely with project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, clients, and regulatory authorities
  • Review structural designs and ensure the feasibility and compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Prepare project reports and present them to clients and senior management of construction projects

Requirements

  • Have tertiary qualifications in civil engineering or a similar field
  • Previous experience in structures such as tunnels, culverts, bridges, etc.
  • Good understanding and demonstrative experience in civil engineering and technical elements
  • Have demonstrated experience in leading a team to deliver structure-related projects
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Have experience in project management, specifically overseeing construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and construction practices
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Be a confident communicator, both in written and verbal form

Working Conditions

  • Travel will be required to worksites
  • Work in an office and on-site environment
  • Extra hours may be required when nearing the completion of a project
  • Work schedules tend to vary depending on project needs
  • A lot of collaborative work with other professionals working on the project

Average Salary

  • $100k – $150k per year in Australia
  • $100k – $140k per year in New Zealand
