Contracts Administrator Job description

As a Contract Administrator, you will initially be into the project manager and will assist in the commercial management of ongoing civil construction project. You will manage multiple sub contractors ensuring the project runs to budget including; issuing purchase orders, reporting of variations, approval of Invoices, producing progress claims.


  • Management of project controls – cost control and project forecasting
  • Resolve critical issues throughout the project life-cycle
  • Ensure compliance with all procurement policies and procedures
  • Management and preparation of scope changes
  • Report and provide general commercial support
  • Management of contract administration, head contract and subcontracts (progress claims, variations, EOT’s invoicing in project/ contract delivery )
  • Maintain registers of variations and claims, delays, instructions, and use this information to build formal claims
  • Ad hoc tasks from the commercial manager
  • Monthly Reporting – internal and head contract

Usual Requirements 

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience – civil construction projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Tertiary qualification in quantity surveying, contract administration or similar
  • Able to manage very complex situations and problem-solving
  • Multitasking and the ability to work independently
  • Strong negotiation and leadership skills
  • Previous experience with a reputable main contractor
  • Experience using software such as JDE, SAP, and MS Office Suite
