Document Controller Job Description
A document controller is responsible for efficiently organising, managing, and maintaining all project-related documents, ensuring accurate documentation control, version tracking, and accessibility for project teams. They play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and compliance of project documentation throughout its lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Control the internal and external documents for bid processes
- Maintaining document repositories and databases, ensuring easy access for project team members.
- Implementing and enforcing document control procedures to manage document creation, revision, and approval processes.
- Tracking document versions, revisions, and changes to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Collaborating with project managers and engineers to ensure that all documentation aligns with project timelines and objectives.
- Performing regular quality checks on project documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Assisting in audits and compliance assessments related to document control procedures and practices.
Requirements
- Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Familiarity with engineering and construction terminology and documentation
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and prioritise tasks to meet project deadlines
- Organised, good at time management, and able to prioritise effectively and efficiently
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot document control issues
Working Conditions
- Typically work in an office setting
- Generally follow standard office hours but may work overtime as project deadlines
- Collaborate closely with engineering-related professionals
- May work on tight schedules to meet milestones
- Handle sensitive project information
Average Salary
- $85k – $100k per year in Australia
- $62k – $83k per year in New Zealand
